    Habits

These house ants like to eat sweets and are especially fond of honeydew. They are known to move their nests every three months or so in response to rain.

    Habitat

Indoors, these house ants nest near moisture sources, such as in wall voids near hot water pipes, in heaters, beneath leaky fixtures and inside wood damaged by termites. Outside, odorous ants are often found in exposed soil or under stacks of firewood.

    Odorous House Ant Prevention

Remove sources of standing water and food debris to help insulate your home against odorous house ant activity. Trimming back trees and shrubs away from exterior walls will also reduce ant activity in and around your home. Keep firewood and other materials away from the building perimeter to limit ant harborage locations.
