Our mosquito control technicians will treat key/critical areas around your property with a residual adulticide to help reduce the population of mature mosquitoes in their resting sites. When necessary, PMi will also treat mosquito breeding sites on your property in efforts to prevent mosquito larvae from developing into adults.
While our mosquito control treatments are intended to help reduce the mosquito population on your property, PMi will NOT completely eliminate mosquitoes or the risk of mosquito bites.

PMi Backyard Mosquito Control: The Dual Approach to Reducing Mosquitoes
At PMi, our dual approach to mosquito control creates a barrier around your property to reduce the number of mosquitoes that may carry harmful bacterial diseases such as West Nile virus, encephalitis, dengue, malaria and canine heartworm. Unfortunately, mosquitoes can come from neighbors yards or nearby wooded areas or standing areas of water. As such, we suggest ongoing mosquito treatments as the best option in ensuring the long-term protection of you and your family. PMi treats mosquitoes seasonally and usually begins in April and ends in October depending on temperatures.
How We Treat For Mosquitoes
Our mosquito control technicians will treat the surrounding landscape and foundation of your property with a residual adulticide to help reduce the population of mature mosquitoes in their resting sites. When necessary, PMi will also treat mosquito breeding sites on your property in efforts to prevent mosquito larvae from developing into adults.
While our mosquito control treatments are intended to help reduce the mosquito population on your NC Piedmont property, PMi will NOT completely eliminate mosquitoes or the risk of mosquito bites. We consider our Greensboro and Winston-Salem mosquito control program a proactive approach to mosquito management rather than a reactive approach to the reduction of mosquito breeding and resting sites.
The Ins-and-Outs of Mosquito Development
Mosquitoes are the biggest spreader of disease and can reproduce very quickly. There are two major groups of mosquitoes we provide mosquito control for in the NC Piedmont area:
- Culex: Lay their eggs on the surface of water.
- Aedes: Deposit their eggs at the base of vegetation near water, above the water line artificial containers or in tree holes that hold water.
All mosquitoes pass through four life stages: egg, larva, pupa and adult. The first three stages require water for development. The number of days it takes for mosquitoes to transcend from an egg to an adult varies depending on species and temperature. Some mosquitoes develop from an egg to adult in less than a week, others take several months.
